On start up I see the following warning message:

REGISTRY EDITOR.
Cannot import c:\windows\system\radB69E8.tmp. The specified file is not a registry script. You can only import registry files.

I click 'OK' and my PC seems to work fine.

I have tried saving a file of the above name (from notepad) in to the directory shown above, but this fails.

I suspect I will need to reinstall Win 98 SE but before I do, can anyone please help?

Thanks,
Paul G.

First, have you un a complete virus scan?

Check these startup locations:

Go to Start>Run, and type msconfig, click the Startup tab and look here.

Go to Start>Run, type sysedit. Look over the autoexec.bat for unneccessary lines, click the win.ini and check for programs loading here:
[windows]
load=
run=

Check the Start>Programs>Startup folder for shorcuts.

If you find a reference to the file in any of the locatiuons, delete it.

I would then open Windows Explorer, go to View>Folder Options, click the File Types tab, scroll to registration Entries, make sure the Extension is .reg, click the edit button , clikc open with regedit, and make sure this is the command line in the "application used to perform action" box:

regedit.exe

Also, scroll to the .tmp extension, if it exists, and click the Remove button.
