Sometimes when I start explorer.exe, it will open, then when I select a drive to explore, I receive an error telling me explorer has generated errors and windows will shut it down, that the program must be restarted. It also tells me that an error log is being generated, except when I go to the error log, it only says explorer.exe has generated errors (Duh!)
Re-booting fixes the issue but it keeps happening, with no known related issues (i.e. just finished with an application, just finished with a game, etc.)
Any help would be appreciated
1.4 ghz, 512 DRAM, cable modem, Norton AV
Thanks

SP 2 is installed. Wonder if re-installing it will help?

reinstalling should solve the problem. if not I would think u should check your ram if it is faulty.

I experienced the same error on a work laptop when connecting to our network. Basically it was to do with a DLL file which had been copied into the root of a drive which the laptop connected to as part of ots boot sequence. The DLL was a library which referenced Explorer. Hope this helps.
