Do I need a new Modem?I am running win98 I have REinstalled my programs twice in the last Month,I keep getting booted of line gettting messeges that read(1)"add Modem"
#2Make sure fax software is not running"
#3 make sure an incomming call did not disconnet you.
I Get booted while Browsing,or even a download,I have NO conflicts and made sure any fax ware was not running
I also changed the phone line, added any driver updates, and ofcourse any windows updates,I callled PC maker and they can find nothing,Compuseve can find nothing, and I can't find a problen either,,
I run a clear casche, keep history clear etc
Thank you in advance

"#3 make sure an incomming call did not disconnet you"

That line refers to 'call-waiting'. If you have it, you have to disable it or everytime someone calls you, you will be disconnected.

Thank you Bert,
I have done all that , the phone line is only used for PC only , and even changing the ISP number was not helpful

There could be noise on the phone line between you, the central office, and the modems for the ISP. A click or a pop now and then could disconnect you. That would be up to the phone company to check.

BINGO!!
Bert <Thank You it was the Phone from wall to PC
I went out to phone Jack in Yard ,and connected a phone to each line comming in the house,NO STATIC..means everything external is ok,I then hooked up another Phone to Computer and it has been running ok,with no Disconnets,When I called the phone company over PC line there was static,a tech told me my Modem was very affected (Like you said) by noise and even dimmer switches..thanks again
