I am a network manager at a university. I would like to know if it is possible through the windows registry to prevent users from writing anything to the hard drive. Along with this, is it possible to prevent users from deleting anything from the hard drive. All of the machines I am concerned with run Windows 95.

I don't believe you can tweak the reg to that extent. Wish we could. However, check out this program called Folder Guard. It will meet all of your needs and then some.

Your easiest way to go about doing something like that is to use poledit. You can even store the policy on the network server so users can't edit it. I would try it on a stand-alone PC first Until you get used to using the options, I didn't when I first tried it and lokced myself out of my computer :-) Good Luck
