win98se ...ie6 ....had uninstalled mcafee in preparation to install xp (which i postponed). computer was operating great. installed norton antivirus2002. now i have shutdown problem ...freezes on "windows is shutting down"window. is there a solution?

there is seveal utills that try to solve this problem at Programfiles.com unfortunally each one of these problmes is unquie and the only way to make sure what is causing it is to be a real hex expert and want a LOT of code in progress. Good luck

If you have a scan running at shutdown try disabling it

There is also a shutdown patch on Microsoft's web site.
