Windows Explorer problem

Hi,

I've got a strange problem with my Windows Explorer. I'm not sure how to explain it...

When I select a directory in the left panel the highlight moves to the new directory (like it should) but then it jumps back to the previously selected directory for a brief second and then back to the new directory. Does that make sense?

Is there any way to fix this? I just reinstalled Windows 98 yesterday (for a completely different reason), so I doubt I have a virus. This problem existed before I reinstalled Windows, but I decided to ask about it after seeing that a fresh install didn't fix it.
