Anyone care to share their favorite data recovery software? I work at a school and the students are constantly having their work on floppies corrupted. I'm looking at success rates first and affordability a close second.

Sorry if this wasn't the right forum. I wasn't sure which one was better.

For what it worth.
I'm just making this up as I go along.

My comments:
When dealing with floppies, there are many things that can cause problems, dirty floppy drives means the head/s don't get full movement as they should, carrying disks in a pocket/backpack without protection is detrimental [get one of the plastic boxes that will hold 2 or more], static electricity from carpets, clothing, and cloth-covered chairs is destructive [and you may never feel it]. And the worst part is if the floppy drive or the controller on the motherboard is failing.

The problem here is I know what the problem is, I just can't convince the students and teachers. I don't trust a floppy any farther than I can throw it, but I can't convince anyone here to save their work in their roaming profile folder as well as the floppy or to save the work on two or three floppies.

But in the end I am not here to beat people over the head till they understand. I have been hired to "just fix it". To that end....

Suggestions?

You certainly have my sympathies. Outside of putting something about my comments on a label and sticking it on each computer or installing Zip drives on each computer, I don't think there is much to be done. If people choose to disregard the limits in computing, they will continue to have problems.

Well, I downloaded a demo of a data recovery program called Final Data that worked great for this but it stopped working after only 3 files and the registration was $500, which is fine for my company's banking records but a little salty for some kid's homework. I was wondering if anyone knew of some similar, reasonably prices apps?

How 'bout:

RECOVER FIXED/FLOPPY DISK v2.0

Never used it, but at $15 it may not be as salty.

I found this site: http://www.lc-tech.com/, somewhat cheaper at $59. Looks like they have a decent product.
