graphics editing

Hello I am looking for a graphics editing program that will edit an x11 bitmap file. I want to change this bitmap so that I can customize a portable device, and was wondering if any one knew of a program. The file extention is *.bit any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have never heard of that file extension for X11 bitmaps; they are usually xpm or xbm of course that doesn't mean anything because theres a bunch I have never heard of. Most likley the best thing to try would be Gimp. It has been ported to win32 a while back. Below is a link to download SlowView which can be used to convert to another file format.

I sure would like to take a look at that file. If for no other reason just to satisify my curiosity.

I looked at my XNView program. It states a .XBM is a X11 bitmap and .XPM is a X11 Pixmap.

Hey thanks for the programs they might help im downloading them now to try them out. I know the file extention is odd but thats the extention i got from a web site that had a list of file extentions and what they were, i also backed the extention and what it was with three diffrent sites so im pretty confident that it is the right one. I wont know for sure till later. thanks again
p.s.: I am trying to hack the lyra2 player from rca. If it works I can make customized digital start screens. If anyone wants one I might be willing to make one for you and give you the software and an install file to change the appropriet files untill then, thanks
