If you want to be "selective" with any items in the control panel you have to perform
the following:
(1) Go to Run
(2) Type MMC
(3) On the Toolbar choose "Console"
(4) Choose "Add\Remove Snap-in"
(5) Click "Add"
(6) Choose "Group Policy" applet
(7) Go to the following location: User Configuration\AdministrativeTemplates\ControlPanel
(8) On the right pane, there should be a entry called "Show only specified control panel applets."
(9) Double click and choose "Enabled"
(10) Show - If no applets are shown in the window click "Add"
(11) Enter in the Item you want added - for example: Joy.cpl
(12) OK
(13) Apply
(14) Save
I hope this is what you were looking for as Im guessing that this was it!!

Hi,
It would certainly help avoid confusion if you posted your question in the Windows 98 forum, instead of the Win XP/NT/2000 forum...
About your question: you can't add Control Panel applets without some serious programming.
There are also a number of tools available, but you really need to know what you're doing.
That's about all I can tell you, for I'm not a programmer myself.
Incidentally, All CP applets are *.cpl files, not *.exe or anything else.
What exactly is it you want to achieve?
Or do you just want to 'unhide' existing CP applets?
In that case go to Start/run, and type control.ini.
Click OK.
At the top you see a section [don't load]
If you want to 'unhide' an applet, for example Appwiz.cpl, just change the line Appwiz.cpl=no to appwiz.cpl=yes
Good luck, Tony

You could create a faux Control Panel. Add a folder to the Start Menu called Control Panel. Go to the real Control Panel and create shortcuts to all the applets you want. Gather up the shortcuts from the desktop and drop them in your faux Control Panel. Then add whatever other shortcuts you want.
Not the solution you were looking for, I know, but its close and it has the advantage of being doable.
