I was looking for a Method to disable the DOS prompt and found: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\
Policies\WinOldApp\Disabled=1, DWORD

Although being posted to work with all Windows Versions I only succeeded with it, when applying to WIN98.
NT4.0 and W2000 ignored the Key. Is another thing to do with this versions?

It may be because WinNT4 and Win2K/XP don't really have DOS in them. And what DOS they will do is at a Command prompt/window. Think about the lack of a boot disk for these systems, it is entirely different.

You may want to disable the ability to type command or cmd in the Run box and also delete the icon/s in Accessories.

Check www.jsiinc.com for an NT tweak. Here's 2000

Go to start/Run type in gpedit.msc and hit enter

drill down to..

User Configuration/administrative templates/system

In the right side pane is the option to disable the command prompt. Select Enable to disable cmd.exe and command.com
