I want to change the default view in Windows Explorer for all folders to the Detail view. We are currently using Group Policy and have locked down / Restricted the Folder Options button. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Francis

I tested this out in 98 it should be the same for 2000.

Open My Computer and set it to show details then go to folder options and select View and then click like Current Folder. Close out. Next, open regedit and

Drill down to..

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer\StreamMRU]

export the StreamMRU subkey. Do the same for

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer\Streams]

Streams

and..

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer\StuckRects]

StuckRects

Now you have 3 reg files. Consolidate the last two files into the first reg file so that all the data is in one reg file.

use the reg file in the users login script.

The next time the user reboots and logs in, Explorer will show details.
