My wife has forgotten her password in outlook express. She had to get verizon online to reset it to a temp one, but we can't get into express identy section to replace the old password. I tried to delete the identity and then planned on making her a new identity but can't do it without her existing password. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance

How To Remove An Outlook Express 5 Identity Without The Password (REF#991220-0000)

Description:

SUMMARY

Customer forgot the password to one of his/her Outlook Express 5 identities and now cannot access it or remove it.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Solution:

PROCEDURE

To remove an identity :

Click Start | Run.

Clear the Run field and type: regedit

Click OK.

Go to the following location in the registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Identities\

NOTE: If Identities is not under HKEY_Local_Machine it may be under HKEY_Current_User.

You should see an entry for each Outlook Identity. The key will be in Hex code, but if the customer highlights each one and looks in the right hand pane, he/she will see a username key. This should be the name of the Identity. Make note of the key name (the Hex code) before deleting the key. The customer will need to know it in order to find and import any mail or news from the deleted Identity. Highlight the Identity the customer wishes to remove. Right click the Identity and select Delete.

Close the registry editor and reboot the computer.

When OE is opened, the Identity removed from the registry should now be gone. If the customer wants to import mail or address book from the old identity , he/she may go click File | Import and select what should be imported. The mail should be located in C:\Windows\Application Data\Identities\[Hex key name from the registry].

To recover her old mail

I don't know it this will work but try to save all the .dbx file in that indenty when you create the new idenity replace the files in the new ideninty with the old ones.

I have moved mail to a new hard drive this way

the old file will be something like this
C:\WINDOWS\Profiles\username\Application Data\Identities\{DC3D9362-A638-11D5-B01B-97125E095345}\Microsoft\Outlook Express

Thanks
Mac!!!

This Is just my opinion
So if it stinks wait for another one
Cause I'm no expert
