Hi! I have a problem with my cd-rom. Its speed should be 32, but it's a bit it doesn't work as it should. In fact now it reads at a speed of only 4 times. I dont' know where to start looking for the problem so I just tried here. Also, once I've used a program - Hardware Info Program / www.hwinfo.com - to see what was wrong with my computer (cd-rom) and what was there written about my cd-rom?... "set speed 4x". Maybe, if you want to help me, it could help you a little. Thanks.

Check your settings for cd-rom.

Right click My Computer. Then Properties Performance File System CD-ROM.

supplemental cache size is set to "large", optimize access pattern for "quad speed or higher": windows will use 1238 kB of physical memory to optimze cd-rom performance during data access.

Caveat. If you look at the documentation from the manufacturor/distributor/dealer, it probably will say the Maximum speed is 32x, 40x, 50x, or whatever.
