Perhaps u can advise or tell me wherer to post. I am having problems with my emachine 320. To try to correct these I asked Win to run a scan disc and it starts but then fails - it tells me after 10 attempts it cannot complete because other programs are accessing the C drive but I dont understand. In addition the defrag stays at 0% and the diagram showing the defrag working is completely blank. In addition the machine is prone to closing down - often when I right clkick the mouse. Norton Anti-virus fully updarted tells me there is no virus. just the other day all MSOffiuce applications stopped workingh and were unaccessible. Help!!!

Right-click on the icons in the tray area and choose "exit" or "close".
Then tap the Alt_Ctl_Del keys and end task on all items except for explorer and systray.
Then right-click on the desktop, choose properties, click the Screen Saver tab and select (None) from the drop-down list.
Then run scandisk, then defrag.

Also....if you have Winamp installed.....shut off Agent....Options....Preferences....Setup....Agent. ..uncheck Enable Winamp agent.

Thanks a lot, wonder if I could pester you:
1. How do I find winamp.
2. I tried what other person set and shut down thgose in sys tray. Sometimes when I right click these then PC shuts down. Even if these are OK when I go to C, A , Del and close down those sometimes the PC closes too. I cannot get to the stage where I can run any of the SYS tools.
EG: I closed down the systray items and moved on to Ctrl, Alt Del, When I got to Poproxy and error message came up 'caused error in MFC42.DLL and will close dowm. I closed this then tried to close the next on the list; webcam rem, I go no message but it closed down.
Getting really worried about this PC.
Hope u can come up with something.

Go to Start>Run, and type msconfig. Leave ScanRegistry and Systray, uncheck all other entries, then try my steps.
