I've tried IE 5.0, 5.5, and 6.0 on my W98SE PC: "Install on demand" for Flash 5.0 keeps coming up. I say no each and every time, hundreds of times this month alone.
I do not want Flash installed, I figured out how to uninstall Flash, but this IOD popup thing is far more annoying! I've tried tools menu, options, advanced, and unchecking the install on demand box; it doesn't stop the popup messages.

What can be done?

Try this: In IE, Tools, Advanced tab, uncheck all the Install on demand options.

In Internet Explorer, go to Tools>Internet Options, click the Security tab, then the Custom Level button. Under ActiveX Controls and Plugins, disable Download signed ActiveX Controls.

Please read my initial posting carefully - I stated that I tried this already. Thanks for the reply.

Any other ideas?
Edited by rabnud on 01/10/02 08:05.

Thank you, that made a small difference.

Now I get different popup, and I still have to click no: "Your current security settings prohibit running ActiveX controls on this page. As a result, the page may not display correctly."

Either way, I still have to see a popup, still have to click no. Only the scenery changed.

Do you have any more ideas?

I just ran into the same problem about an hour ago, turned out the Web page was offering to install it.

Umm... Your web page was offering to install what? I referred to 4 software titles and you didn't state a software title, so I do not know which of those titles you are calling "it". I suspect you are referring to Flash, but am not certain what your web page was offering to install: IE, IOD, or Flash. I think I can assume that no web page would offer to install W98SE...

Anyhow, do you know of anyone uninstalling "Install on Demand"?

It was a Flash-loaded page that popped up as an advertisement and I got out of it before really getting a good look at it, so I couldn't point you to it, I can't even point me to it again.

The only Install on Demand I have running deals with Office 2000 as I did not do a full install, left off a few of the programs, may not install until I need them.
