I have a 100 PC (running NT4-WS) Network. Divided into 4 rooms (25 per room). Each room has a dedicated computer for sharing a HP LaserJet 4000 Laser Printer.

I changed this from sharing all the printers from the central server.

I do not want to install the network (HP JetAdmin) drivers on each PC (therefore I have to share it on a PC).

The drivers have been installed on the 4 Print-sharing workstations.

My problem is how do I setup each workstation so that it will print to the shared printer without each user needing to add it.

I do not use roaming profiles (network traffic issues). And I've tried changing the default profile to store the shared printer, to no success.

Do you have a Domain server you logon to, or is it a peer to peer network?

You need to connect the Printers to their respective servers, install them and set up the printer as local on the server, and then merely share the device out.. ie (\\server1\laserprint1) and then add the printer as a network printer on each workstation...
The client PCs should detect the drivers needed, if not they will download these drivers from the print server...

Check this..

http://www.windows2000faq.com/Articles/Index.cfm?ArticleID=14541

Use 4 seperate login scripts. each script will house the command and correct share path to the particular pc/printer in the 25-pc room.

Since your using the login script to map the printer, you will have to make sure the login script (designated printer path) is set to a user in that particular room.

it's a WinNT4 SP6a Domain..

FYI: A peer-to-peer will typically not exceed 10 PCs...
