I have a problem with my telnet on w2k with service pack 2, when i try to connect with any internet address(the which i have access permitions) the program still trying to connect to the address as this :
connecting to 172.22.53.452......
and don't pass nothing more..Any suggestion?

Why does that IP Address have a 452 in it? IP's only go from 0 to 255...maybe thats a problem. I doubt that IP address really exhists.

Oh, so no matter what address you type in to telnet, it just hangs on "Connecting to x.x.x.x ....." ?
Just to make sure, and this may be a dumb question, but you are using the correct format right? Should be...
Telnet [space] [IP Address or Server Name] [space] [Port Number]

yes is telnet 255.255.255.255 23
in tha way.

Try useing PuTTY as your telnet client it a superior product in comparison to Microsoft's built in telnet client. THe only thing I don't like about it is that it doesn't log.

Hi,
I got the same problem,
I tried with putty also still the problem predicts,
I also tried with NT 4.0 workstation's Telnet program but
the problem is not over yet.
My OS is Windows 2k professional (SP 2).
Can anyone help me out.

Hi,
I need putty very much because of it's ssh capabillities.
I am lucky to have not Your problems...
when even putty fails, it seems to be a security issue or a general network layer issue.
to come nearer, try ftp to an authorizable connection and try smb (windows share) functionality.
Sorry for having no better idea.
