Yes!!!
For the ones of you that have Script Sentry installed on the computer it has failed my testing...
Test Conditions::
I removed regedit from the hard drive so those cheap trick programs could not run regedit...
When I was updating yahoo messenger a yahoo error message poped up could not run external command regedit ...
So I put regedit back in place and redid the down load... Yahoo updated the registry and Script Sentry never detected the yahoo updater changing the registry using regedit...
So In my books Script Sentry failed... It has a box for a .reg check mark in the config settings and it never detected the regedit being run...
Thanks
Mac!!!
This Is just my opinion
So if it stinks wait for another one

It makes me wonder if on the Permissions screen you have to have those items unchecked or else they are given permission to run.
To look at it you would not think so.
To look at it you would think that you should get a message anytime you try to install a program.
I do know it works if I click on any file with an extention that is listed in the associations.

I am no expert either, /images/forums/icons/wink.gif
but is regedit not an .exe file which Script Sentry is not programmed to interrupt.
Script Sentry will interrupt running a .reg file (and others) but not a .exe program installation which writes to the registry.
Am I missing something? /images/forums/icons/crazy.gif
This advice is free.
You might only get what you paid for. /images/forums/icons/wink.gif

The yahoo updater tried to run regedit and I had it removed from the puter. So I got an error .. put it back and yahoo updater ran RegEdit.exe with a .reg file HUM.....
Yes I release a reg change can be done with script and not use Regedit.... But this script called Regedit,,,
It looks like Script Sentry is a bull program because the only way it will kick in is if you do the double click thing on a file type with your mouse....
Thanks

'only way it will kick in is if you do the double click thing on a file type with your mouse.... '
This is exactly what I use it for...as the final protective measure for my own mistake of not checking it out first (or my wife more so).
Did you, by chance, try experimenting with the permissions screen? I have nothing to test it with or else I would have.

Oh well it is gone I removed it today I went to do a reg edit and it gave a runtime error line #5....
I had to right click and merge the file to bypass the sentry...
And it did not completely remove itself,, I had to remove the stuff it left in the registry,,, So it goes in the bit bucket...
Yes I did play with the control panel a checked box enabled it to intercept....
It was just a false sense of security... The lights were on but the quard was asleep... LOL
Thanks
