Turn off win xp control of mtu speed

Does anyone know how to stop win xp pro from changing my mtu speed settings? I am trying to make custom settings of my mtu speed and other tweaks to speed up my net experience, I'm using Iolo system mechanic to ghange the settings but xp changes them back to what it wants.Help.
