I have been able to DISABLE the drives from My Computer in Win2k. The loophole I found is that a user can still browse the Start Menu, go to the programs folder, and DOUBLE CLICK the accessories folder and it automatically spawns windows explorer and gives access to the C drive! Does anyone know why this is happening or a way to restrict it? Thank you.

Actually, all a user has to do is to right click on any Folder and Choose Explore. To end all this and disable the Windows+E you can do this. (At least you can in Win98 SE)
Open the registry and navigate to:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\shell
Under shell, delete the Explore subkey.
Unfortunately, I found that going to run and typing Explorer.exe was all it took.
Have you disabled start>run ?
I was able to create a shorcut with the command line C:\windows\explorer.exe
That opened explorer too.
I think you have a difficult question. Maybe someone else will have more ideas.
Windows2000 is different from Win98SE. Possibly there is something to do.

It can't be done in any windows version. The current tweak of "hiding" the drives is about it.

I have locked down the computer to the point where there is NO 'Run', 'Control Panel', or anything related to modifying the computer on the Start Menu. I have also disabled the ability to 'right click' and explore. The only thing on the Start menu is the Programs menu and Favorites. When I double click My Computer the drives go away, but when I double click the Accessories folder in the Programs group it gives Full Access to explorer! HELP! This is win2k, is there a way to disable explorer? Thanks all.
