View Full Version : Error Accessing Registry

Hello.

I had been having problems with Windows ME - lots of Blue Screens of Death(tm) - and formatted my drive and attempted to install it again. Installation goes smoothly, but, upon signing in to Windows, I get a Blue Screen saying:

"Error:0E:016F:BFF8E64B"

This had never happened before, so I thought to myself that maybe installation didn't really run as smoothly as I thought (or would have liked). So I format again, and reinstall. Same problem occurs. I do this three times before deciding to go back to Windows 98.

Windows 98 installs smoothly (maybe that's not such a good thing, heh), but immediately after signing in I get a window from Windows Registry Checker saying:

"Windows encountered an error accessing the registry.
Windows will repair the registry for you and restart the computer."

So I click ok, and it merely reboots, and the window pops back up. I then entertain the idea that maybe WinME isn't so bad after all, as I never had this error with it, and so I install ME, again.

Heh, imagine my surprise when that same window detailing the same problem pops up. How can the registry already be bad when I haven't even done anything yet?

Hopefully someone knows what the problem is.
