When I log on I get a balloon that I have to click and then another screen I have to verify. How can I disable this? Thanks

It's actually the connection status. It begins in the taskbar and gives connection speed/bytes ect.

The connection balloon goes away after a short while, I haven't found a place to disable the balloon in WinXP Pro yet but I kind of like it because one of my other computers on the network will dial up when I am not around and it is a good notification. I think it is a notebook but will need to check further.

To Disable The Notification Area Balloon Tips
Click Start , click Run , type regedit , and then press ENTER.

Navigate to the following subkey:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer\Advanced
Right-click the right pane, create a new DWORD value, and then name it EnableBalloonTips .

Double-click this new entry, and then give it a hexadecimal value of 0 .

Quit Registry Editor. Log off Windows, and then log back on.

These steps disable all Notification Area balloon tips for this user. There is no way to disable balloon tips for specific programs only.

The two rules for success:
1. Never tell them everything you know.
