See my previous post for details on how this started:
<a target="_blank" href=http://www.winguides.com/forums/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=genwin&Number=30601&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&part=>http://www.winguides.com/forums/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=genwin&Number=30601&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&part=</a>
It was partially fixed, but now I have a new and odder problem.

I took out Netscape completely...Then, the association for shtml files disappeared out of the file types window, but I wasn't able to make a new one because it kept telling me it already existed as a Netscape file...

Arrgghhh...

So I crawled throught the registry, removing or changing any and all instances of Netscape, anywhere in the reg, relating to file types, etc.

Finally, I was able to recreate the associations for .htm, .html, .shtm, .shtml, etc., and link them all back to IE, but now, although IE opens when I double click on any of those extensions in Windows Explorer, the page doesn't load locally -- Just a blank page, without the "file::C\whatever" or anything else in the address bar.

Go figure...

All the extentions in the registry are tweaked to open with IE, all of them have had their shell/open/command keys restored and filled in correctly (if manually), and everything "looks" as it should.

But even in HomeSite, when trying to view a page in the display browser, it just opens a blank page.

Help me...
(she whimpered)

:-)

Thanks again in advance, and I'll be happy to post examples of the registry keys/strings, etc. if anyone needs them.

Running Win95, IE 5.5, yadda, yadda...

It's not necessary to start a NEW post!! In fact, I think it's rude...:o\

My apologies.

Should I have changed the subject line of the old one? It didn't relate any longer, and the question had been answered, so, in my mind; new problem/question, new post.

Not intending to be rude.
