You need to burn a bootable CD. As below
HOW TO USE THE LIVE CD
1. If you have downloaded the ISO image, burn the image to a blank CD.
2. The CD is bootable, so reboot your computer and configure your bios such that the CDROM is the first boot device.
3. After the CD boots, you should be presented with the AOSS EULA. To scan your system you are required to agree to this agreement.
4. Select the drives you want to scan from the list. Noting that the Alternate Operating System Scan follows the standard Windows drive mapping. If you have changed your drive mapping in Windows the changes will NOT be reflected here.
5. Scanning consists of three stages. The first one scans all the regular files on the system. The regular files are the files that can be viewed with Windows explorer. The second stage scans the file system for Alternate Data Streams. This can be considered files that do not have their own unique file name but are attached to a regular file. These files can not be seen using Windows explorer. The third scan checks your system registry files, including the backup files.
6. Wait for the scan to complete, you will then be displayed a list of files and registry keys that have been detected. If a valid Spyware Doctor for Windows licence has been found, you may then proceed to clean the Windows system. This will attempt to remove any files that were detected and any keys from the registry. If the files cannot be removed, they are overwritten with some information about the type of malware. The file extension is changed to .sdf (Spware Doctor File).
7. It is strongly recommended that you run Spyware Doctor in the cleaned environment to remove any remaining malware that may have not been removed by the Live CD.
I hope that this helps :)

Do you have your CD drive as one of the boot options?

When your PC is to boots up, press the 'delete' key to go into the bios configuration screen. A screen will pop up allowing to change the settings on which drive to boot up with. Select the CD-Rom drive. Exit and save and restart your computer with the CD.
Burning the single iso file to a CD wont make it bootable.
TO BURN THE ISO IMAGE TO A BLANK CD
-----------------------------------
1. Download an iso image application:
I suggest ImgBurn available from: http://www.imgburn.com/
2. Install the ImgBurn software
3. Download the AOSS.iso file from http://www.pctools.com/aoss/download/
4. Open ImgBurn software and browse to the AOSS.iso file that was downloaded in step 3.
5. Using ImgBurn, burn the iso image to blank CD.
That should do the trick, it worked for me.

My PC at work does not have a writeable drive. I have burnt a disc at home which works ( at home ). I have tried the disc at work - no go. So; 1. Does this only work on the same PC as the disc is created? and 2. what might we do on a PC with a read only DVD drive.

Hey,
The instructions have now been updated on the PC Tools website.
MaxiP - With your query, you may use the bootable disk on another computer. It does not have to be used on the computer in which it has been created.
Please follow the instructions from: http://www.pctools.com/aoss/download/
