Please excuse me for my ignorance on this topic, but I recently got an Internet Explorer Error, indicating that my current settings prohibit running Active X controls on this page. (The page happened to be Microsoft downloads). As a result, it says, this page may not be displayed correctly. It wasn't as it showed "This page cannot be displayed properly". I could go to another website, but not MS. I managed to get information on WINUP problems when viewing or downloading from Windows Update. I followed the instructions about enabling all ActiveX Security, but it did not resolve the problem. I am afraid to do much more without causing problems that are way over my head. Can anyone suggest something or should I be directing this question on another Forum?

You have done nothing wrong you just need to do some clean up the microsoft site gets jealous and gives this error if you have allot of stuff in the temp folders
You can read my notes paying close attention on how to set up the temp folders...
Also the site will only work with the internet explorer. Netscape and all other browsers are out..
There is an article at the microsoft site that explains what to do when it gets jealous.. all it says is to do a clean up
If this doesn't work then you need to make sure microsoft has not been put in the restricted zone list...
Thanks
Mac!!!
This Is just my opinion
So if it stinks wait for another one
Cause I'm no expert

I too have EXACTLY the same problem, all security settings are at default, and I've followed all the advice on Microsoft's website and coolsight2000's site (excellent resource BTW)
I have also "lost" all access to any secure site (even if I add them to the "trusted sites" zone.
Anyone got any ideas ??
Steve

I should add that I've upgraded my IE to version 6, and that didn't change anything..Could it be a registry glitch ?

when you try to display the page a security warning sometimes appears. If it does then cut and paste the url from the security warning into the address bar and it should ask you if you want to download the control or a cab file. All you need to do is save it to the computer and extract it and it should work

Adamdelves,
Nope. I never get any warnings. Just a Http:404 error
Thanks for your input though, I appreciate it.
