Has anybody else encountered a problem with Internet Explorer running under Windows 2000 Pro locking the computer when you are trying to view a website that has flash, streaming video, those 360 views they have at the automotive manufacturer's sites, etc?

I had the problem with 5.x, upgraded to 6.0, and nothing has changed. Even installed SP2. I've checked my settings for anything obvious, can anyone think of anything?

since you described resources that require high bandwidth, I'm wondering if there's a problem with the network card drivers or the applicable tcpip stack. You couldn't uninstall/reinstall both to see if that's the fix. If this has been happening for a short period of time you could call your ISP first to see if there's any known issues. Also, if your on a network you can try to isolate the problem by connecting one PC directly to the Internet.

Hello,

I have the same problem. But i think i have found the sollution. A client of me has an AMD proccesor and an agp videocard.

I have found at: http://www.winguides.com/registry/display.php/798/
the following:

Fix AMD Athlon AGP Paging Issue (Windows 2000) Popular
Category: Home > Hardware > Processor and Motherboard
Windows 2000 based computers may stop responding when you use an Accelerated Graphics Port (AGP) program with an AMD Athlon processor. This is due to the memory allocated by the video adapter driver becoming corrupted. This registry tweak will fix the problem.

Open your registry and find the key below.

Create a new DWORD value called "LargePageMinimum" and set it to equal "0xffffffff".

Restart Windows for the change to take effect.

Perhaps this could solve your problem?

Greetings,

It shouldn't be a bandwidth issue since I connect at 10.0mbps over a dsl line.

Likewise, I have an Intel PIII 866 w/ATI Radeon 32mb DDR agp graphix, and 128mb pc133 system memory. There shouldn't be any graphix/cpu conflicts.

I don't know, it is really weird. Keep the ideas coming though! I really appreciate it!
