Hello...
is there a way to create a screensaver-shortcut that's password protected?

I haven't tried it on NT yet but it worked in 98.
Here's what I did.
I selected the pipes.scr screensaver and activated the password option. gave it a password and then closed out. next I searched via Find for the pipes.scr file. I dragged it to the desktop and created a shortcut to it. I then double clicked the shortcut. The screensaver launched. I then moved my mouse and the password dialog box appeared.

Do you want it to go to a screen saver with a password or to lock the workstation?
If you want to lock it you can do the following (This assumes you are using NT/2K/XP):
On the desktop, right click and go to "New Shortcut"
When the dialouge box comes up type in the following
%windir%\System32\rundll32.exe user32.dll,LockWorkStation
Hit next and name the shortcut
Hit finish
This will give you an icon you can click on to lock the computer.
Thanks to Chimera601 for this one.

Luicipher,
I haven't found a way to do it for shut down but the NT resource kit contains a shutdown command (and a couple other useful command line utilities that you should be able to make use of.

Hy Hutz...
I tried this - but the shutdown only
appears - and then it shut's itself down ;-)
but nothing else - perhaps it does not work
with win2k...
thanx anyway
Look for the shutdown.exe in the W2K ResKit.

I am not at work right now (meaning I am on a 98 machine instead of my 2k box at work), but if at the command line you type
shutdown /?
it will give you a list of switches that are used with the command. Some of the functions are,
/F forces windows to close open programs
/T:XX delays the shutdown, timed is seconds
there are a couple others. I am sure it works in 2k it just takes some getting used to the syntax of the commands. Good luck
