Hi.

I have all my foldes with read-only attribute on all my drives.
I didn't do anything to transform my folders on it.
Can someone help me remove that ?

I'm web developer and i can update databases because i can write to them.

My folders are read-only but I can still copy data to them.

Go into Windows Explorer, right click the folder you wish to set proper permissions on and select properties. At teh bottom of that box that pops up, read only is one of the attributes. If you want more that read only access then uncheck the box.

Hope this helps

Yes i have this same problem but in my case my whole drive is read only and when i want to change the attribute and then i go back into the properties of the folder its back at read only. And i like to mention that i am an adminitrator when i try this.

Are you sure they are read only?

If you are seeing a filled in (green on my system) check box in the attributes section it means there are some read only files in the drive/folder you are looking at but the drive/file itself is not read only.
This is smilar to when you install some Office software and you choose some but not all options to install. Think of it as a 3 way indicator (All(checked), Some(filled), None(unchecked))

If you were to click on the box it will clear and if you click again it will check. If you subsequently click on apply a dialog box will appear and ask if you want to apply changes to this folder or to folder and sub folders. (if you are doing this to see just click cancel to quit out)

You could test this by creating a dummy folder and sub folders with dummy files in them and see how it works.

Remember if you are an Administrative account you have "Full Control" to your files so little is denied you as far as access to files on your system. Some time Windows will remind you you are going delete a read only file but it will let you if you tell it to.

Search in HELP about Folder and File Permissions.

Nowhere in the doc does it tell you about the check boxes though. /images/forums/icons/smile.gif
