Hello, my desktop icons are mostly my shortcuts and these seem to rearranging themselves whenever my mouse pointer moves. The mouse pointer seems like a magnet and whenever I drag it over the icons, the icons move to different directions. I don't know how to fix this. I tried restarting the computer but the problem keeps coming back. I have a windows 98 on my Dell PC.

Your help is really appreciated.

It's sure to be Magistr32, and it must have been there for some time, if it's doing that:
http://www.wilders.org/HTMLobj-746/Antimagistr.zip (http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.magistr.24876@mm.html>http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.magistr.24876@mm.html</a>)

But first run an online scan at <a target="_blank" href=http://housecall.antivirus.com/>Trend Micro HouseCall</a>

Good luck,

I used trend micro housecall and it detected PE_MAGISTR.B and Trojan Asylum viruses. They are not cleanable and I'm looking for a way to clean them up without having to delete all the files affected. PE_MAGISTR.B went to c:\windows\options\cabs\regedit.exe and \windows\command\start.exe to name a few. Trojan virus went to c:\windows\msdrv.exe. Does anybody have a suggestion to wipe out the virus? I'm a newbie so please be detailed with your suggestion.

Thanks.

Tony has give you the best solutions. Download the zip file, extract it and double-click on it.

Then use the Symantec link and go over the Removal instructions section, They are very clear.
