I can go to WindowsUpdate site and choose what to download. It then downloads the files and attempts to install. It installs really quick but ends up with error. Checking the error log saying "Object not registered". Anyone has any idea?

got it. I received a similar error message when I had IE 4.0. I upgraded to 5.0 to resolve.

Sorry, at the moment I don't have the fix.

anyone else?

What component are you trying to add?

There are many Knowledge Base articles about problems with the Update Site. This seems to be the most likely one:

<a target="_blank" href=http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;Q193385>WINUP-Problems When Viewing or Downloading From Windows Update (Q193385)</a>

If that doesn't help, go to the Knowldge base:
<a target="_blank" href=http://search.support.microsoft.com/search/default.aspx>http://search.support.microsoft.com/search/default.aspx</a>

and type in WINUP- in the "for solutions containing..." box.

You guys are great. Thank you very very much. POBrien gave me a trigger to think that I should try to uninstall IE6. When I tried to do that (via Add/Remove) program, it also gave me a repair option.

I thought that there is no harm trying anyway. It ran through the process but it didn't tell me if anything was wrong and it had to reboot WinME. After the reboot, I tried doing WindowsUpdate again and it worked!!!
