Please can someone help - I am fast running out of ideas for curing this fault.
I have an ethernet system connecting 2 computers, both running WindowsME. It worked fine until I installed a new scanner with its own PCI card. Now I can hardly ever access the network, particularly from the computer with the new scanner. I have tried re-installing the ethernet card on it, updating drivers etc. When I add NetBui as the protocol & make it the default on both machines, I can get the system to work - but only for a few minutes, before I am locked out at both ends again with messages saying the network cannot be accessed. Incidentally, the only way I can see the orginal host computer after adding NetBui is by searching for it with find - no icons appear when I click Entire Network!
I have been through the Help files ad nauseam to no avail & have browsed this site for ideas, again with no satisfactory outcome.
My feeling is that there is some simple logon or Registry problem, but I am loathe to delve there too deeply!
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
