PC Tools releases 2009 range

San Francisco, 11 August 2008: PC Tools today announced the release of PC Tools’ Internet Security 2009, Spyware Doctor and Spyware Doctor with AntiVirus 6, Registry Mechanic 8 and Desktop Maestro 3. To coincide with the launch of these products, PC Tools are also announcing the rollout of its new logo on the user interfaces of its new release products.

“The 2009 range of products will provide consumers with a more efficient and more sophisticated level of protection against Internet security threats and more advanced tools to optimise and improve the performance of their PCs”, said Simon Clausen, Chief Executive Officer, PC Tools.

PC Tools said that Internet Security 2009 and Spyware Doctor 6¹ continue to maintain minimal system resource usage while providing a more advanced level of security protection including improved detection capabilities, swifter clean-up for heavily infected computers and enhanced hacker defense².

The exclusive Behavior Guard feature, built on the award winning ThreatFire technology and designed to block new and undiscovered threats, is now seamlessly integrated into Internet Security 2009, providing users with even better protection. For Spyware Doctor 6 Behavior Guard is available for registered users³.

The Security 2009 range also includes optional Internet browser protection using PC Tools’ Browser Defender™ toolbar which offers website safety alerts as users browse and search the Internet, and includes unique patent pending browser exploit protection for Internet Explorer.

Registry Mechanic 8 now includes a tune-up your services feature that can be applied to improve system performance, reduce consumption of system resources and provide faster start-up times. This feature is tailored to improve gaming experience, boost performance, enhance security and stop services⁴ not required for computers that are not connected to a network.

Registry Mechanic also includes new plug-in architecture allowing users to incorporate additional features and tools including the most popular Windows Management tools, in a readily accessible format, while the user interface has been redesigned to provide a clean, clear structure for simple navigation.

Desktop Maestro integrates registry cleaning and system monitoring tools from Registry Mechanic, as well as privacy cleaning tools from Privacy Guardian. It now also includes a selection of useful optimisation and management tools that will enhance system performance and stability.

The new Startup, Service and Uninstall Management tools allow users to manually control start-up items and services, as well as to manage unwanted software, while the privacy cleaning feature has been updated to support more third party applications and popular internet browsers. Like Registry Mechanic 8, Desktop Maestro 3 also includes new plug-in architecture, the tune-up your services feature and a new clean and easy to navigate user interface.
