Ethernet New

Ethernet is a protocol originally designed by Xerox Corporation. It is one of the most commonly used protocols to allow computers to communicate with one another on a local area network.

Originally developed with a speed of 10Mb/sec it has now been re-developed to include new high speed versions including Fast Ethernet (100Mb/sec) and Gigabit Ethernet (1000Mb/sec).

Computers that communicate on an Ethernet network are connected together using network cards and cables. In standard Ethernet networks the cables can either be coax or twisted pair (aka Cat 3, Cat 4 or Cat 5).
