When PC Tools AntiVirus has completed its Scan and infected or suspicious items were detected on your system, the Scan Results List displays. Details of the threat associated with each item can be viewed here, as well as the actions that PC Tools AntiVirus performed on the item. If no infected or suspicious items are detected, the Scan Results Summary screen displays.
There are two types of Scan Results Lists:
Results of last scan - this list is displayed at the end of a Scan, listing all infected and suspicious items that were detected in the scan and the actions which were performed on them. If you have navigated off this list, the results of the last scan can be viewed in the Infected items screen.
Infected items - this list is displayed by clicking Click here to View Results List on either the Main Status screen or OnGuard -> File Guard screen. The cumulative results of all infected and suspicious items detected by OnGuard's real-time protection (OnGuard Scan) and the actions which were performed on them are displayed here. The results of all OnGuard Scan detections remain in this list until PC Tools AntiVirus is closed. The results of the last Scan are also displayed in this list, although unlike OnGuard Scan detections, these results are not cumulative. When another Scan is conducted, any previous Scan results are purged from this list and replaced by those of the new Scan.
The Scan Results Lists display the following criteria. These lists can be sorted alphabetically by each criterion, by clicking its field name at the top of the list:
Item - the path and name of the infected or suspicious file detected on your file system.
Status - indicates whether the file detected is either infected or suspicious.
Action - the action that PC Tools AntiVirus performed on the detected file during the File or OnGuard Scan. This is either Disinfected, Quarantined or Removed.
Notes:
If the detected file is locked by Windows, it is marked Deferred Removal and will be deleted upon Windows startup. If you wish to keep such a file, it is recommended that you make a copy of it before shutting down Windows.
On some unregistered versions of PC Tools AntiVirus, each file detected in a File or OnGuard Scan is marked Skipped and no action is taken until the product has been registered. After registration, any skipped infections in the Scan Results Lists are immediately quarantined or removed, or you are prompted to select one of these actions, according to the Action to be performed on a detected item options chosen on the Settings -> Scan Settings screen. Note: If a skipped item has been detected in both a File and OnGuard Scan, the File Scan action takes precedence.
If a boot sector virus was detected in the scan, the action displays Skipped and advice will be provided on how to remove the virus from your computer.
Infection - the name of the infection which was detected within the file.
Origin - this field indicates either File Scan or OnGuard Scan, depending on the method by which the infected or suspicious item was detected on your system. If a boot sector virus was detected in the scan, this field indicates Boot Sector Scan.
Date and Time - the date and time of when the infected or suspicious item was detected on your system.
Clicking multiple times on a field name toggles between forward and reverse sorting of the Scan Results Lists by that criterion.
The following buttons are available when viewing a Scan Results List:
