
PC Tools AntiVirus is able to record scanning events, including infection detection and removal events in log files. This settings category allows you to customize settings relating to PC Tools AntiVirus' logging capabilities, which includes:
Log activity/events/infections - selecting this check box activates PC Tools AntiVirus' File Scan logging function, which logs the results of each Files Scan cumulatively on a per session basis. A session is defined as the time from when PC Tools AntiVirus is launched to when it is closed. When File Scan logging is active, the following criteria of items detected in all File Scans are recorded:
Object name - the path and name of the infected or suspicious item detected on your file system.
Status - indicates whether the detected file is either infected or suspicious.
Action - the action that PC Tools AntiVirus' performed on the detected file during the File Scan. This is either disinfected, quarantined or removed.
Infection - the name of the infection which was detected within the file.
Time - the date and time when the infected or suspicious file was detected on your system.
Clear logs on exit - selecting this check box results in all logs being cleared upon exiting the application.
Clear log directory when it exceeds X Mb - moving this slider sets the value of 'X' in 1 Mb intervals within a range of 1-30 Mb). This setting results in all logs being cleared when the size of the log directory exceeds the number of Megabytes specified by 'X'.
Log list box: log files are listed in reverse order by date and time. There are three controls that relate to the Log list box:
View Log - select a log from the Log list box and click this button to view its contents.
Delete Log - select a log from the Log list box and click this button to delete it from the list. A warning message displays asking you to confirm log deletion. Note: As the Current Log file of the last scan is locked by PC Tools AntiVirus, this file cannot be deleted using this function.
Clear Logs - click this button to delete all logs from the Log list. A warning message displays, asking you to confirm this action. Note: As the Current Log file of the last scan is locked by PC Tools AntiVirus, this file cannot be deleted using this function.
