Configuring Email Guard settings

These settings apply to the Email Guard real-time scanning feature when it is activated.


Actions to be performed when malware is detected


Allows you to configure what should happen when an infected email is detected.


Click on Settings in the left navigation menu and then click on Email Guard. Use the drop-down menu to select an action.




Message Tagging


Message tagging adds a text tag to outgoing and incoming messages displaying the result of the Email Guard scan for that email. It is enabled by default.


To turn message tagging on or off, click on Settings in the left navigation menu and then click on Email Guard. Check or uncheck the boxes for outgoing and incoming messages under Message Tagging.


You can also edit the text of the message here by clicking Message Text.


Configuring Trusted Ports


To exclude certain known and trusted ports from Email Guard scanning, you can add them to the trusted ports list. Any emails from these ports will NOT be scanned unless specified in the advanced settings described below.


Click on Trusted Ports and click Add New. In the dialog box, enter the IP address of the trusted port. Select the check boxes beside SMTP and POP3 and IMAP 4 to indicate whether that protocol for the trusted port is to be excluded from the scan.


You can also cancel, reset or modify these ports at anytime from this screen.



Configuring  Port Settings


To always ensure that email from certain known ports is tracked, you can add these using the advanced settings. Any email from these ports will ALWAYS  be scanned unless specified in the advanced settings described below.


Click on Port Settings and click Add New. In the dialog box, enter the IP address of the port. Select the check boxes beside SMTP and POP3 and IMAP4 to indicate whether that protocol for the port is to be included in the scan.
